Titanium plays an important role in the exploration and production of oil and gas. Companies in the construction, engineering and refining industries also rely on titanium for its toughness and corrosion resistance. For example, pipes are now often made from titanium to ensure long-term durability.
Titanium has become the material of choice for downhole tubular components used in oil and gas wells. Its corrosion resistance and strength at high temperatures and pressures (high pressure, high temperature) are unsurpassed, and it even has some resistance to stress corrosion cracking. This makes it particularly suitable for this type of application.
Because titanium is resistant to corrosion by acidic (sulfur-containing) crude oil and seawater, titanium can be used in offshore oil drilling. On offshore platforms, titanium is used to make condenser tubes and heat exchangers, pumps, valves, pipe fittings, etc. of closed-cycle engines;
In deep sea drilling and production of seabed oil, it is used as riser pipe, prestressed pipe joints, clamps and accessories, etc.
Valves, nozzles, pipes and downhole pipes used in onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling must be made of titanium. Taking underground pipelines as an example, when sulfur-containing gas is detected, embrittlement will occur if other metal pipelines are used, so titanium can only be used as the pipeline material. Titanium is resistant to corrosion by well brine and seawater at temperatures up to 300°C, making it an ideal material for manufacturing drill pipes and offshore drilling equipment.
Titanium alloy pipes are easy to bend and are suitable for the laying of natural gas gathering pipe networks. The single-sided welding and double-sided forming performance ensures uniform and reliable welds. The results of the pipe body tensile mechanical properties test, oscillometric impact test, pipe body flattening test and fracture toughness KIC test prove that titanium alloy pipes have excellent performance
Titanium alloy tubes have excellent corrosion resistance and have been used in heat exchangers, distillation towers and reactors in petroleum refining, significantly reducing equipment repair and maintenance costs and extending the service life of equipment.
