DESCRIPTION


Titanium clad plate is a typical metal layer composite material. Usually, they are produced by deformation and bonding: hot/cold rolled bonding or explosion bonding. Titanium composite steel plates obtained the low cost and high strength of the steel with excellent titanium resistance.

Titanium steel clad plate has superior corrosion resistance and heat resistance, so it has better corrosion resistance than stainless steel or copper alloy and titanium in most cases, especially in seawater. 

Moreover, titanium sheet/plate application is expanding rapidly from space to land and from land to sea. Therefore, a titanium steel clad plate is an ideal material to replace pure titanium for a better cost-effectiveness ratio, which features a low cost and higher performance.

Titanium clad has high mechanical properties, and excellent stamping properties and can be welded in various forms, with welded joints up to 90% of the strength of the base metal and good machinability. titanium clad has high corrosion resistance to chlorides, sulfides and ammonia. 

Titanium cladding in seawater has higher corrosion resistance than aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and nickel-based alloy is also high. 

Titanium cladding is also more resistant to water impact.


Titanium clad steel content grades:

Grade 5 titanium (6AL-4V) is an Alloy Titanium product containing 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium; it is a medium strength product. This grade of titanium is mainly used for airframe and turbine engine components; it is also used for surgical implants. 

Titanium 6AL - 4V ELI is an Titanium clad containing 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium, ELI (Extra Low Clearance).

6AL-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo (6-2-4-2) is a titanium clad containing 6% aluminium, 2% tin, 4% zirconium and 2% molybdenum.

6AL-6V-2Sn (6-6-2) is a titanium clad containing 6% aluminium, 6% vanadium and 2% tin.

5AL-2.5Sn & ELI (5-2.5) is a titanium clad containing 5% aluminium and 2.5% tin. Also available as ELI (Extra Low Insertion Inserts).

8AL-1V-1Mo (8-1-1) is a titanium clad product containing 8% aluminium, 1% molybdenum and 1% vanadium.

15V-3Cr-4AL-3Sn (15-3-3-3) is a titanium clad containing 15% vanadium, 3% chromium, 4% aluminium and 3% tin.


Titanium Clad Steel Sheets specifications

Titanium-clad steel sheets should be manufactured in accordance with ASTM B898. The base metal may be various carbon steel plates manufactured in accordance with ASTM A516, ASTM A515, ASTM A266, ASTM A572, ASTM A709, ASTM A387, ASTM A240, etc. The cladding metal can be ASTM B265 Titanium Gr. 1, Gr. 2, Gr. 3, Gr. 7, Gr. 9, Gr. 12, Gr. 16, etc. The cladding technique can be hot rolled, cold rolled, blast bonded or a combination of them.
